Cooking Atelier

Spending a day with Catherine in her kitchen (which is an authentic kitchen of a 18th century chateau) would be a delightful immersion into the art of French cooking. As a passionate chef, Catherine would guide you through the preparation of traditional Burgundian dishes, offering a hands-on experience that showcases the region’s rich culinary heritage.

Your day would begin with a warm welcome and an introduction to the ingredients that make Burgundian cuisine so special. Together, you would gather fresh, locally-sourced produce, meats, and wines to craft a classic Burgundian meal. Catherine’s expert guidance would make you feel at ease as you step into the role of chef for the day.

One of the first dishes you’ll create are gougères, the famous Burgundian cheese puffs. These delicate, airy pastries are made with pâte à choux dough and filled with a rich, melted cheese, usually Comté or Gruyère. Catherine will show you the perfect technique for achieving that light, crisp texture and savory flavor.

Next, you will prepare œufs en meurette, a quintessential Burgundian dish. This delicious dish consists of poached eggs served in a rich, red wine sauce made with mushrooms, bacon, onions, and herbs—truly a perfect reflection of the region’s love for combining simple ingredients with complex flavors. Under Catherine’s tutelage, you’ll learn how to master the delicate balance of flavors in this traditional meal.

Together you will agree on the menu for the main course which you can all prepare together.

Throughout the day, you’ll bond over the shared love of food, while Catherine explains the history and cultural significance behind each dish. Once the meal is prepared, you'll sit down together to enjoy the fruits of your labor, pairing the dishes with a glass of Burgundy wine, completing your authentic French culinary experience.

Bon appétit!
